New Year, New Home: Zenaida & Marcos’ Story

Zenaida and Marcos spent years without a place to call their own. Since coming to the U.S., their lives were filled with uncertainty—moving from one place to another, never knowing how long they could stay. Even in their later years, they worked tirelessly just to get by.

But everything changed when they connected with Encompass Housing.

Housing Navigators Brian and Gilbert took the time to truly understand Zenaida and Marcos's story. They walked alongside them through every step of the journey, providing the support and care they needed. All of their efforts finally paid off when Zenaida and Marcos received the keys to their new home.

As their granddaughter, I’ve never seen my grandparents so happy. The day they got their apartment keys, we were all overwhelmed with joy, knowing they no longer had to struggle or wonder how long they’d have a roof over their heads. When their new furniture arrived, my grandma started crying tears of joy. She couldn’t believe it was all really theirs.

Zenaida and Marcos are loving, kind people who now have a safe, secure place to call home. To them, Brian and Gilbert aren’t just Housing Navigators—they’re family. The couple even consider them their honorary grandkids, and they’re forever grateful for the support they received.

This New Year, Zenaida and Marcos’s story reminds us of the transformative power of compassion, care, and connection. Thanks to our hardworking and compassionate team, they now have the stability and security they’ve always deserved.

Let’s celebrate the lives forever changed and look forward to creating more stories like theirs.
