Success Stories

At Encompass, we are proud to witness the success stories of individuals who have found not just housing, but a home with us. From securing stable employment to regaining their independence, these journeys showcase the transformative power of safe and supportive housing.

Gina

When Gina received the shocking news that she and three of her children were being evicted from their one-bedroom apartment, she was scared and didn’t know what to do or where to go. While Gina and her kids lived out of motels, she worked through her lunch breaks and spent hours making calls to find resources and support.

Finally, she was referred to our program, and our housing navigation team helped secure a two-bedroom apartment for her and her kids. Watch to learn about her inspiring story through the Encompass program.

Kaylee and Victor

Kaylee and Victor are a remarkable couple with high-functioning autism who were married last summer. When we first got connected with them, they were living in a family member’s living room, which presented various challenges. Despite their circumstances, they had a strong desire to live independently and have their own space to build their lives together.

The Aguirre Family

In March of 2023, Dela Marie and her husband faced the most challenging time of their lives. Despite their best efforts, they found themselves homeless with their three young children (ages four, one, and a couple of months old). They lived in their car, couch-surfed, and slept on friends' living room floors whenever possible. The stress and uncertainty of their situation took a toll on their mental health, leading to depression and anxiety for both parents.

The family became our clients at the end of December, and our team was able to find them a two-bedroom apartment in Buena Park by the end of January. Because they had nothing for their new living space, we partnered with Furnishing Hope, a nonprofit organization that supports families in need of a fresh start or a safe haven, who provided them with furniture and supplies.

Dela Marie’s children can finally rest peacefully in their own beds each night knowing they have a place to call their own. The family has expressed a renewed sense of hope and optimism for the future, knowing that with our team’s ongoing services and support, their lives will continue to improve.

Thank you to California Department of Health Care Services for pioneering CalAIM, an innovative program that supports families in need, and to CalOptima for providing these life-changing services to their members. We couldn’t do it without your support!
