Job Summary

As a Stabilization Specialist at our Recuperative Care Facility, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our clients while they recover from illness or injury. Your primary responsibility will be to provide direct support to clients, addressing their needs, and maintaining a secure environment within the facility. You will work closely with the care team to implement strategies that promote stabilization, safety, and comfort for all residents.


Key Responsibilities

  • Client Support and Engagement:

    • Establish positive and empathetic relationships with shelter residents. 

    • Provide emotional support and actively listen to residents' concerns, encouraging open communication. 

  • Basic Needs Assistance:

    • Ensure the provision of necessities such as food, clothing, and personal hygiene items. 

    • Assist residents in accessing resources for medical care, mental health services, and other essential needs. 

  • Safety and Security:

    • Monitor the shelter environment to ensure the safety and security of residents. 

    • Collaborate with administrative and/or management personnel to address any safety concerns or emergencies. 

    • Maintain a safe and secure environment within the facility by enforcing safety protocols, monitoring access points, and responding promptly to any security concerns or emergencies.

    • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address potential safety hazards, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines. 

    • Implement crisis intervention techniques as needed to de-escalate tense situations and ensure the safety of clients and staff. 

    • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services to coordinate responses to security incidents or medical emergencies. 

  • Daily Living Assistance:

    • Assist residents in maintaining personal cleanliness and hygiene. 

    • Support individuals with daily living activities, including meal preparation and cleanup.

  • Medication Supervision:

    • Assist with the self-administration of medications to residents according to prescribed schedules and dosage instructions. 

    • Maintain accurate records of medication administration, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. 

    • Collaborate with healthcare providers and pharmacists to address any medication-related concerns or changes. 

  • Crisis Intervention: 

    • Respond to crises and emergencies promptly and appropriately. 

    • Collaborate with other staff members and external agencies to address crisis situations. 

  • Case Management Support: 

    • Collaborate with case managers and social workers to implement individualized care plans. 

    • Participate in case conferences to discuss resident progress and goals. 

  • Community Resource Coordination: 

    • Connect residents with community resources, including job assistance programs, educational opportunities, and housing support services. 

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available resources and services. 

  • Documentation: 

    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of resident interactions and services provided. 

    • Complete incident reports and other documentation as required.

  • Cultural Competency:  

    • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness in interactions with a diverse population. 

    • Foster an inclusive and respectful environment for all residents.  


Position Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or a related field preferred. 

  • Previous experience working in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or residential care setting. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. 

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations. 

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, de-escalation strategies, and safety protocols. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities. 

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records systems is desirable. 

  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
