Jeff Burgett

Board Member

Jeff Burgett retired as an Assistant Division Director in the Juvenile Facilities Division at the Orange County Probation Department, culminating a 30-year career focused on supporting at-risk youth and fostering system-wide improvements. Throughout his tenure, Jeff oversaw critical programs providing alternatives to confinement, directed collaborative court initiatives, and managed officers working with youth in probation and foster care. He also led the Juvenile Court Services and Juvenile Facilities Divisions, ensuring comprehensive support for young people in the justice system. 

Jeff co-chaired a multi-agency committee focused on addressing and reducing racial and ethnic disparities (RED) within juvenile justice, contributed to a specialized committee for services addressing the needs of commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), and served as an executive advisor for the department's Peer Support Team. In collaboration with the Board of State Community Corrections (BSCC), he helped ensure that incarcerated youth received essential services and support, aiding their successful reintegration into the community.

A committed educator, Jeff also served as an instructor at Orange County's Probation Officer Academy, where he trained officers in trauma-responsive practices and facilitated cognitive behavioral therapy programs to better equip staff in supporting youth effectively.
